The taking of selfies has become a widespread photographic practice over the last 20 years. The following questions are concerned with the content and context of the holiday selfie you are submitting. Your answers will provide valuable information that will help viewers to understand the photos now and in the future and to place the images in a historical context. Only the questions and fields marked with a red asterisk are compulsory. The submission takes approximately 5–10 minutes. Many thanks for sharing your memories and experiences with us!

By donating the photograph, you confirm that both you and all other persons depicted therein consent to the image becoming part of the Swiss National Museum collection, and to its future reproduction in various contexts, for example in exhibitions, publications or in the online collection.
A selection of the photographs submitted will be presented for the first time as part of a digital slideshow in the exhibition ‘Tourism. Switzerland as a Travel Destination’ (20.6.2026–2.5.2027) at the Forum of Swiss History Schwyz. We will inform you if your photo is selected.
By donating the photograph, you guarantee to the SNM that you are the copyright holder and creator of the image and that you are entitled to use it as you wish, or that you have obtained the creator’s consent. You thereby grant the SNM all intellectual property rights pertaining to the donated object. The SNM is a member of ICOM and always adheres to the ICOM Code of Ethics, especially with respect to the storage, conservation, use and documentation of the donated object.
The SNM reserves the right to exclude photographs that are not holiday selfies from the collection. In the event of a very large number of submissions, the SNM also reserves the right to include only a selection of the submitted photographs in the collection. Digital photographs not included in the collection will be deleted.
