Research and Development
Using the micro X-ray fluorescence spectrometer in an examination
The conservators themselves initiate research
and development in conservation or restoration methods. Working closely with the
laboratory, they investigate problems, try out solutions, and develop
methodology. This
intimate collaboration, one of the strengths of the Collection Centre, is
promoted by the units’ spatial proximity. Methods developed here are part of
the range of services that the Collection Centre offers its partners. The
laboratory is also actively engaged in the new COST action IE0601 (Wood Science
for Conservation of Cultural Heritage).
